Germany's first post-war tank bet on mobility: a 105mm L7 gun, a low rounded turret and a chassis built to outrun the fight rather than absorb it. It entered Bundeswehr service in 1965, went on to serve more than a dozen armies, and every Leopard since carries its name. The turret rotates, the gun elevates and the hatches and access panels open onto an interior with ammunition stowage, crew positions and engine detail. 1,862 pieces of the tank that defined German armour for a generation.
