The FV215 was Britain's plan for a heavy gun tank built around the same 183mm cannon as the FV4005, this time on a purpose-designed hull with the turret set far back to tame the recoil. A full-size mock-up was built, the project was cancelled in 1957, and the tank became one of the great what-ifs of the Cold War. The turret rotates, the gun elevates, the hatches open and the upper sections lift away to expose the mechanical and ammunition interior, all in dark grey. 2,165 pieces of the heavy hunter that never left the drawing office.
