Every 12GO® product page shows three numbers right under the title: the difficulty level, the piece count and the build time. Together they tell you almost everything you need to pick the right set for you, or for the person you are buying for.
1. Start with the difficulty level
Our sets are graded Intermediate, Advanced or Expert, shown with the little bar icon on each page.
- Intermediate is the best place to start. Clear stages, familiar techniques and a model you can finish over a weekend.
- Advanced sets add more sub-assemblies, tighter detail and longer stages. Ideal once you have one or two builds behind you.
- Expert sets are our largest and most involved models, made for builders who want a long project and a centrepiece for the shelf.
2. Check the piece count
Most of our sets sit between roughly 1,000 and 2,500 pieces, and our biggest builds go well beyond that. More pieces usually means a larger model and more detail, but also more time at the table. If you are new to brick building, a set under 2,000 pieces is a comfortable first project.
3. Look at the build time
The hours shown on each page are an honest range for an adult builder working at a relaxed pace. As a rule of thumb, plan on around 250 pieces an hour. Because every set comes with numbered bags and a printed step-by-step manual, you can stop at the end of any stage and pick it up again days later without losing your place.
4. Pick the machine you care about
The best first build is the one you will be proud to display. If you love WWII armour, start with our WWII tanks. If the sea is your thing, browse the warships. Prefer moving parts? Our engine models show the mechanics up close.
